Imphal, Manipur, April 26 (HBTV): Ahead of second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the Manipur unit of the Indian National Congress (HBTV) on Thursday expressed apprehension that the ‘unwanted activities’ that happened during the first phase may repeat this time as well.

Speaking at the Congress Bhawan, former Congress Minister Ratan Kumar said many INC polling agents were not allowed inside the polling stations by miscreants during the first phase of polling. Appealing to the Election Commission of India, Kumar said adequate measures should be taken up to ensure free and fair elections in the second phase.

Kumar said a Congress delegation, which included MLAs and office bearers of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee sent to Jiribam Assembly Constituency had reported that polling agents and workers were receiving threats and being intimidated.

The Congress party has already submitted a written complaint to the chief electoral officer regarding this and is expecting necessary action, the Congress leader said.
